The benefits of CBD

Cannabidiol, better known by the acronym CBD, is one of the many cannabinoids that make up hemp. This substance is not psychoactive and does not create dependence, unlike THC. CBD notably concentrates most of the health benefits of the cannabis plant. Various scientific studies notably prove its effects:

  • analgesic : the cannabidiol molecule binds to receptors of the endocannabinoid system to inhibit the sensation of pain;
  • anti-inflammatory : CBD reduces the reactions of immune system cells in response to aggression to limit, or even avoid, inflammation;
  • regulators of the digestive system : cannabidiol is said to possess antiemetic properties and to soothe contractions in the small intestine. The cannabinoid would then help optimize the functioning of the digestive system;
  • neuroprotective : CBD would act in the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases;
  • calming and relaxing : cannabidiol would promote the production of serotonin and dopamine. These neurotransmitters are responsible for good mood and relaxation. The component of the hemp plant would also stimulate the secretion of melatonin: the sleep hormone. This substance notably regulates the circadian rhythm, commonly called the biological clock, responsible for the wake/rest cycle of the body and mind.

CBD would also possess proven cosmetic virtues. The natural product would indeed have nourishing, moisturizing, softening, strengthening, and antioxidant potentials. It thus provides all the necessary daily care for the skin, hair, and nails.

Furthermore, dedicated research highlights the favorable actions of CBD against the development of tumors and cancers.

Observations and scientific experiments are continuing to reveal other effects of cannabidiol in the body.

Is CBD legal in France?

The law governing the use of CBD in France has undergone significant changes over the years. However, the official announcement of the legalization of CBD in France made by the Council of State on 29 December 2022 removes any doubts on the matter. It is nonetheless important to recall the key points of the regulations governing the cultivation and use of CBD in France, namely:

  • the THC limit in the CBD plant and CBD products at 0,2% : beyond this legal threshold, THC can cause euphoria and lead to dependence;
  • the exclusive cultivation of Cannabis Sativa L. : this variety of hemp has a low THC content and a high concentration of CBD. It is the only one authorized for production in the European Union;
  • the use of CBD for therapeutic purposes and for well-being only.

Failure to comply with these regulations exposes you to severe penalties provided for drug use.

Is smoking CBD authorized by French law?

CBD is available in a wide variety of forms in specialized stores. Each consumer is free to choose the method of administration they wish, according to their personal needs, preferences, and desired effects. No restrictions apply to the methods of CBD use.

Smoking CBD: a legal but risky practice

Many cannabidiol users might be tempted to smoke CBD leaves, flowers, or seeds. Smoking CBD in public places is authorized by law in France. It should nevertheless be recalled that this practice is governed by the same principles that regulate the use of cigarettes and tobacco. Thus, smoking cannabidiol should notably be avoided in enclosed public places and in areas frequented by sensitive people: schools, health and medical establishments such as hospitals, on public transport, etc.

Indeed, smoking CBD poses a real danger to the smoker themselves but also to those around them. This is confirmed by specialists and French authorities. The combustion of organic substances (leaves, flowers, and other raw CBD extracts) notably produces harmful elements that can be carcinogenic. These same emissions can also cause cardiovascular problems. Thus, we join the CBD experts and the authorities in their decision to absolutely advise against smoking CBD.

Vaping CBD: a legal, healthier practice

You can notably find CBD e-liquids to use like classic e-liquids, with an electronic cigarette. Dedicated brands also offer disposable and reusable vape pens. Vaping CBD is legally authorized in France, subject to restrictions based on the attendance and sensitivity of the locations.

Vaping CBD allows you to enjoy the analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-stress effects of the product. This method of administration also allows you to benefit from the properties of cannabidiol in combating insomnia and other sleep disorders and in fighting the symptoms of certain nervous system diseases.

Furthermore, the leaves, flowers, and other raw extracts of the CBD plant are used by inhalation through vaporization. This method of administration presents fewer dangers than combustion and allows you to fully enjoy the many health benefits of CBD. You must equip yourself with a vaporizer if you choose to use CBD by inhalation through vaporization.

To briefly answer the question, CBD itself does not present a health risk. The cannabinoid even presents multiple benefits for the body. Consequently, cannabidiol is legalized for use for therapeutic purposes and for well-being. Furthermore, smoking CBD in public places, with the exception of areas frequented by sensitive people, is authorized by law. However, this practice presents serious health risks for the smoker and for those around them. It is therefore absolutely advised against smoking CBD.
