How to choose your CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is recognized by the WHO as a natural remedy with no risk to health. As a result, CBD is legally authorized for production, marketing, and consumption in several European countries, including France. The product is sold in various forms in specialized stores. So how do you choose your CBD?
The benefits of cannabidiol
CBD has many properties proven by science. The natural product is said to have notable potential :
- pain-relieving;
- anti-inflammatory;
- anti-stress, calming, relaxing;
- anti-emetic;
- antiseptic.
Furthermore, research reveals CBD's ability to limit the development of tumors and cancers. Moreover, the natural product derived from hemp is also said to promote growth.
Scientific studies are still ongoing to support the results of previous trials and demonstrate other effects of cannabidiol.
The side effects of CBD
Cannabidiol can also have side effects or reversed effects on the body. These unwanted consequences generally occur following an overdose of the product, due to one or more interactions of the product with medications, or due to the poor quality of the product. The main unwanted consequences of CBD are:
- drowsiness: by stimulating the production of serotonin and melatonin, CBD can cause drowsiness;
- digestive disorders: cannabidiol can cause diarrhea, constipation, nausea, etc;
Dry mouth is also one of the main side effects of CBD. This discomfort results in particular from the action of the cannabidiol molecule on the salivary glands. It affects certain CBD consumers. If you are faced with this problem every time you consume cannabidiol, drink immediately a large glass of beverages after ingesting the product.
Be sure to use exclusively high-quality products, compliant with current regulations, and strictly adhere to the prescribed doses for treatments to avoid CBD side effects.
Which form of CBD to choose?
CBD is sold in different forms on the specialized market. You can in particular obtain:
Sublingual CBD oil
This is a natural vegetable oil 100% to which the cannabidiol molecule is added. The product comes in various versions, based on two criteria, namely:
- CBD concentration: depending on the production method, the product may have a cannabidiol concentration ranging from 5 % up to 40 % and even more. Concentration refers to the CBD content in the product. CBD oils at 10% are the most common on the market. These products are packaged in bottles of 10 ml, i.e. 1 000 mg of CBD and approximately 200 drops of product. In this case, one drop contains 5 mg of CBD. It is essential to focus on the CBD concentration in the oil to determine the number of drops of product to use. The higher the concentration, the better the product. For informational purposes, CBD oils with high Cannabidiol concentration are more expensive than products with low CBD concentration;
- the spectrum: the spectrum refers to the composition of the CBD oil. We distinguish in particular full-spectrum CBD oil (Full Spectrum) containing the vegetable oil base and all hemp components : cannabinoids including THC at a legal level of less than 0,3 %, flavonoids and terpenes. Broad-spectrum CBD oil (Broad Spectrum) is composed of the base, the CBD molecule,and all hemp components except THC. Finally, CBD isolate is manufactured with vegetable oil and pure CBD, without any other component.
CBD flower
Cannabidiol flower is an extract of the hemp plant with a THC content of less than 0,3 %. You can find the product in its fresh or dried form in stores. Furthermore, CBD flower can come from different cultivation techniques:
- indoor: indoors;
- outdoor: outdoors;
- greenhouse: in a greenhouse.
CBD flower is used in infusion in boiling water and a fatty substance (butter, milk, etc) or by inhalation through vaporization. Caution! It is forbidden to smoke CBD flower. Indeed, combustion destroys all the product's qualities and produces toxic fine particles.
CBD cream
CBD cream is used topically, to be spread directly on the area to be treated. Perform a gentle massage to allow the molecule to penetrate beneath the epidermis and benefit, thus, from deep action. This product is suitable for targeted treatment.
CBD food products
If you are more of a gourmet, opt for treats (candies, lollipops, chewing gums, etc) or other everyday food forms with cannabidiol like CBD honey, coffee capsules, jams, syrups, culinary oils, etc. These products are used and consumed like their classic versions.
CBD capsules
The CBD capsule is a capsule that contains powdered cannabidiol. This type of product is arguably the most practical to use. Simply swallow the indicated number of capsules for the treatment with a glass of water.
CBD resin or hash
CBD resin, commonly called hashish or hash, is arguably the most concentrated product in CBD. Consumers can choose the resin according to the CBD concentration. The best products, the most expensive, display a Cannabidiol level of nearly 6 to 7 % anda THC content of less than 0,3 %.
Furthermore, you can find CBD hash from Cannabis Indica or Cannabis Sativa. Resin composed of Cannabis Indica extracts generally displays a higher CBD concentration and therefore proves to be better than the product derived from Cannabis Sativa.
CBD hash can be consumed in meals, as an infusion, or inhaled by vaporization.
CBD Pollen
CBD pollen comes in powder form. The product is used by vaporization. Consumption by ingestion should be strictly avoided!
The choice between the different types of CBD products is mainly based on your preferences and lifestyle habits, particularly regarding the use of the product. Your budget is also an important factor to consider when selecting a CBD product.
