What is the strongest CBD

Cannabidiol (CBD) is sold in various forms in dedicated retail outlets. The products display highly variable CBD concentration levels. Their potency also differs depending on the consumer's level of tolerance to cannabidiol. So, considering these factors, which is the strongest CBD?

What is CBD?

CBD (cannabidiol) is a chemical compound naturally present in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the main active compound of the cannabis plant, CBD has no psychoactive effects. Thus, the substance does not cause euphoria or a "high" nor addiction.

CBD is often used for its potential therapeutic properties. Various scientific studies notably demonstrate its effects for:

Scientific research is still being conducted to reveal other actions of CBD in the body.

The health benefits of CBD and the absence of risks of changes in behavior and reasoning related to its consumption are recognized by the WHO. This explains, among other things, the legalization of cannabidiol in several countries, notably in most member states of the European Union. Nevertheless, the exploitation and use of CBD in these countries are strictly regulated.

Furthermore, the legal status of CBD varies depending on the country and region. In some places, CBD is considered a medication. In other states, such as France, the natural product is considered a dietary supplement or a wellness product. It is therefore important to check local regulations before using CBD-based products. Illegal use of cannabidiol notably exposes you to severe penalties provided for drug possession and use.

Which form of CBD has the highest concentration?

You can obtain CBD hemp extracts (flowers, leaves, fruits, etc.) on the dedicated market. Furthermore, the CBD molecule can be extracted from the cannabis plant and then transformed into various products: oils, capsules, creams, foods and beverages, etc.

CBD crystals at 100%

You can obtain crystals displaying a CBD percentage of 100% from certain specialized retailers. This form of cannabidiol features the maximum CBD content available on the specialized legal market.

Which variety of CBD oil is the most potent?

There are different varieties of CBD oils. In particular, you have a choice in terms of concentration between products displaying a CBD level of:

CBD concentrationType and intensity of symptoms
5% low percentagefor beginners and for treating mild conditions
10%, 15% and 20% moderate intensity symptoms
25% à 30 % quite intense symptoms
35% and 40%severe pain
CBD concentration in the oil and symptoms treated

The concentration of cannabidiol in the oil notably influences the product's dosage. As an indication, 1 drop of CBD oil at 5mg is equivalent to 2,5 mg, and 1 drop of CBD oil at 10M represents 5mg of cannabidiol.

Thus, the CBD percentage does not really allow one to distinguish the potency of different products. In this specific case, the product's strength then relies on the dosage.

Furthermore, CBD oil can have different compositions. In particular, we distinguish CBD oils:

  • Full Spectrum: composed of a vegetable oil base, ideally organic, enriched with all the active components of hemp: terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids including CBD and THC at a regulated level of less than 0,3%;
  • Broad Spectrum: containing organic vegetable oil, terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids from the cannabis plant. This type of product contains no trace of THC;
  • Isolate: this is an organic vegetable oil enriched exclusively with the cannabidiol molecule, with no other ingredient.

Full and Broad Spectrum CBD oils can provide more intense effects. This is notably explained by the entourage effect. According to this natural mechanism, the other active components of hemp optimize the actions of CBD while exerting their own therapeutic virtues in the body.

Be careful, however, in case of intolerance to one of these components or if you are unsure about your tolerance level to terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids, favor CBD isolate. This alternative is also imperative at the slightest doubt regarding the legality of the other hemp components.

Which CBD flower is the most concentrated?

You can obtain CBD flower from specialized retailers. This type of product is used as an infusion or by inhalation through vaporization. These methods of use allow you to enjoy all the health benefits of the cannabinoid.

Cannabidiol flowers are raw extracts of the hemp plant. Thus, the product generally displays the percentage of components contained in the cannabis. Know in particular that legal CBD extracts come exclusively from Cannabis Sativa L. This variety of hemp is the only one authorized for cultivation in the European Union. Indeed, this plant displays a relatively high CBD level and a THC content of less than 0,3%.

Cannabis Sativa L. notably presents a precise CBD/THC ratio. This generally varies from 1/20 to 1/40. As the THC level in flowers and other CBD extracts is legally limited to less than 0,3%, the maximum CBD percentage in natural and raw flowers is 12%.

However, you can find CBD flowers with a very high CBD content on the market. Certain hemp CBD flowers sold on the legal CBD market in France indeed display a percentage of nearly 80%. These are, in fact, CBD flowers displaying a normal natural maximum cannabidiol content (12%). However, these quality extracts have been subjected to specific treatments. The products are notably rolled in CBD isolate or crystals with a very high concentration of cannabidiol after harvesting (and possibly drying). This operation allows the product to be impregnated to considerably increase its cannabidiol level.

How to identify the most potent CBD?

The CBD level in a specific product does not necessarily define the product's potency. The level of effectiveness of the cannabidiol product relies on different factors, the most important of which are:

Dosage

The intensity of CBD's effects on your metabolism depends above all on the product's dosage. Indeed, a small amount of CBD provides mild effects, and a high dose of cannabidiol offers intense actions. Therefore, make sure to strictly follow the doses prescribed for the respective treatments to ensure you benefit from the intensity of the desired effects.

The level of tolerance to cannabidiol

The level of tolerance to CBD varies considerably from one individual to another, depending on metabolism. Some consumers may feel the sought-after effects at very low doses, while others must take a higher dose to feel the same effects. This is why no official information confirms the CBD dosage necessary for the various treatments for which the product is used.

It is notably advisable to seek the opinion of your primary care physician or a CBD expert to determine the amount of cannabidiol according to your state of health. Specialists generally recommend starting treatment with a minimal dose of CBD. You will then observe the effects of this initial amount on your body. This will allow you to adjust, by gradually increasing or reducing the CBD dosage, until you obtain the desired results.

The quality of CBD

Good quality cannabidiol can provide optimized effects even at a low dose. Therefore, make sure to obtain superior quality CBD products. This guarantees that you truly benefit from the virtues you are seeking by taking cannabidiol.

Furthermore, poor quality CBD can cause side effects or reversed effects. Among the most common undesirable consequences, we can notably mention drowsiness, severe fatigue, migraines, and digestive disorders.

Therefore, buy your CBD from a specialized, professional, and accredited retailer.

The method of CBD administration

The effectiveness of cannabidiol also relies on the method of use. Sublingual administration, a consumption method specific to CBD oil, notably offers optimized and rapid effects.

Certain methods of use alter part of CBD's benefits even before the molecule is assimilated by the body. This is notably the case with ingestion. With this consumption method, the product passes through the digestive system before being absorbed into the body and exerting its effects. However, digestive juices can affect certain active components of the cannabidiol molecule and therefore affect its qualities.

The method of CBD extraction

The CBD molecule is extracted from the hemp plant.

The producers can use different extraction methods, the most common of which are:

  • supercritical CO² extraction: this process uses no chemical substances. It produces CBD of superior quality. The product retains all its natural properties, including the original cannabidiol content;
  • solvent extraction: this method generally uses alcohol or ethanol to isolate cannabidiol. These products can alter the qualities of the CBD and leave harmful chemical residues in the product.
  • extraction using food-grade vegetable oil: this method of CBD extraction is done with vegetable oil, ideally organic and food-grade. It produces cannabidiol of average quality. Indeed, vegetable oil can affect the properties of CBD.

So prefer CBD obtained by supercritical CO² extraction to ensure you fully benefit from the product's advantages and all its natural effectiveness.
